You are invited to participate in the research project entitled /The Teacher Education and Development Study — Mathematics (TEDS-M). /This research project/ /is a comparative study of teacher education with a focus on the preparation of teachers of mathematics at the primary and lower secondary levels. The study is carried out by the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA), a consortium of research institutions in 60 countries. The study will provide participating countries with an opportunity to conduct research on their own teacher education systems and to learn from approaches used in other countries.
By participating in this study you will be able to reflect on your learning of mathematics. As a participant, you will be invited to fill out a questionnaire that will take approximately 60 minutes of your time. Domains of interest include academic background and credentials; formal course work completed; types of learning activities experienced; beliefs about the teaching and learning of mathematics; beliefs about the nature of mathematics; knowledge related to teaching mathematics in schools; and perspective and knowledge about general classroom practices.
TEDS-M questionnaires will be administered on Thursday, March 6th from 12 pm-2 pm (Room Thistle Complex - TH 248). Your participation in this study is important and will be greatly appreciated. In appreciation of your time, you will receive two free (Tuesday) movie tickets.
